  • Great SUV

My 5th VW and my second favorite. Nothing comes near the Fall of 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg 1.8T Edition handling, performance and gas milage 30 to 40 miles per gallon. The Tiguan has a nice smooth powerful ride. There is something I don't like: weird noise in the rear bushing when driving on a bumping road. It would be better in gas if there was no ethanol in our gas now.

4Motion drives in winter like a charm
  • Thirsty snappy sporty SUV

Cute little SUV, easy to park and nice to look at. Lively performer. Runs on PREMIUM and drinks like a drunken sailor. 20-25mpg which for a small SUV is outrageous. Traction is excellent and interior fit and finish is acceptable. Ride is a bit noisy. Final 4motion drive is noisy when cold and it makes a loud "mooooo" sound. VW calls it "normal". The automatic transmission is horrible. It hesitates to shift, overrevs and guarantees high gas consumption. At least it is fun to drive if you have a "lead foot". Trunk space is minute, less than the Beetle. It left me stranded in the middle of the road once, when the electronic fuel pump controller gave out at 33,000mi. Replaced the module under warranty.
